HOW WAS MY EXPERIENCE WITH YOURTUTOR TCC TRAVEL IN BRECKENRIDGE COLORADO - PT1

Updated: Jan 30

By: Emily Parker

January 15th 2022, it’s 3:30pm. I’m landing on Denver Airport from Boston. Already bought my day lift ticket on Vail Portal and have everything that I should on me to my first 2022 ski day.

Denver airport is beautiful, right? But not so much time to waste. Going pick the car up to the hills. The road is not busy and just 1,5h driving I’m in Breckenridge. Unfortunately, it is after 4:30pm and the Resort is already closed to pick-up my day lift ticket. No problem. Tomorrow it’s a new day.

It's Sunday and I woke-up really excited to my skiing day on Breckenridge, actually it’s my first time here. I’m host on Hilton located in Peak 9, it’s snowing outside and the powder looks perfect. Just taking my coffee break and surprised on how much international employees it does have, all verry good trained and neighborly, one of them really help with directions to the ticket office. Glad!

It's 9am in the Clock. I do already have all stamina needed to spend in a full skiing day. According with GPS Beaver Run Peak 9 Ticket Office is just on the corner. Not even 5min walking and I’m there. I just forget that is middle January and the town is crowded everywhere. I just thought with myself “Yeah, let’s go there, first line of the day...”

It’s 10:15am already and I’m on my time to be attend in the ticket office. It’s really busy and I can see lines everywhere. I’m not cold but wish not have spent more than 1 hour here. But that is okay, not a big deal, everyone wants Colorado’s powder! Boots are tight, helmets on, lift ticket on the pocket. Perfect. Good to go!

Not so easy. Next step is grabbing the lift line that on my impression is bigger than ticket’s line. By my surprise I was on the top of peak nine by 11:55 am. Where went all my morning? No time for question. Right now, it is just fun…

Do I still good skiing? “No time for question” – answers the floor. Yeah, I’m not. Anyway, the snow is awesome. But, for sure I’m needing a refresh. I’m slowly going down with my back on the snow… It’s 12:30 and I’m one more time in ticket office curious about ski lessons. Unfortunately, there is no more lesson and I’m really afraid to go by my own, I forgot to say but I saw snowpatrol helping a guy who injured really bad.

I'm sitting down hopeless in front of ticket office without knowing what to do. I have planned this trip on the last 3 months but looks like here in the reality everything is way more complicated and difficult than in my mind. I'm freezing and just thinking about give up was when I saw a gentle guy getting out from ticket office with his gear. He looks like the other one who helped me with directions at morning. “He is passing by I need to do something”. I look him fixed and he smiles to me and I felt confidence to make a question.

Are you a ski instructor? I ask. No, I’m just a ticket seller. Actually, I saw you on this cool jacket this morning, are you good? He argues. I’m just a bad skier needing a refreshment but lesson is off for today, I’m probably good to back to my room. I answer. No way, I’m going up right now, I’m not an instructor, but for sure I can give you a refresh. He finishes.

OMG, its everything that I need. While he is putting on his gear we are talking about how lines is being harm for Breckenridge customer experience. Was when he introduced me YourTutor a receptive travel agency owned by a famous snowboarder and managed by his friend. According to him people who really want to enjoy the mountain contact YourTutor.

At this point was not clear how YourTutor helps to improve Breckenridge guest experience. But the gear was already on, no time for question. The lift line has no reduced since the morning, but he doesn’t look to care. He leads me straight to the last line the “single line”, I even saw it for the first time. He explains me that single line goes faster because the lift can afford 6 riders and mostly of time families are small than that, so always do have an extra space waiting to the next on the single line.

And it’s true, not even 10 minutes and there I was with a 4 family members and my nice Emanuel friend on lift. According to him even with the single line we should avoid get straight down to the bottom of hill “always is crowded”. He showed me others lifts on the way “take instead to go down”.

When we get to the top Emanuel ask me to stand on my ski and show what I was doing so he could see where I was mistaken. I was barely standing, so he told me that I really was not good to be by my own “People get really injured”. He tell me to curve my legs “Make contact with the tongue of the boot, bend your ankle inside your boot”. And them after a really ski orientation “let’s see if you get it”.

I’m felling way more confident now with his help, it really makes me remember the old Massachusetts ski days. He is on my side watching and correcting me while I apply everything down to the hill. I’m way more confident now “Thank you Emanuel, it was not my intention borrow you already spend 2hours with me, I don’t have words to thank you!”.

It was fun. I’m glad to could help you Emily, you are a good skier, maybe just needing more confidence but it just practice can give you that. Believe you should be good to be by your own now – he says. I’ve try to tip him on different moments by his help, but I clear can see that he wasn’t doing that by the money, so he gentile refuses. Before to say goodbye he ask about my plans, I tell him that my best friend Monica was arriving tomorrow and we are going to be on the Rockies all week, skiing and having fun together, going to Aspen in the weekend to the Xgames, where a college friend is going to dispute.

Surprising he is going to Xgames in the same day of us, so I just ask his number to pay a beer. Emanuel told me that I was his guest and ask me to pass by my cellphone where he types a phone number starting with 970. Excited to know what comes next?

See it on my new post!
